The Titanic Belfast building is the most emblematic in the city

Although the size of the center of the capital of Northern Ireland allows you to visit its most emblematic places on foot, the Tourist Office prepared a tour for us more fun combining the bike and the boat.

Belfast is also a very flat city -like almost the whole country- and the bike ride is a very pleasant activity when the weather allows it.

We meet the good of Norman Trotter at the Smithfield market, where the affable Irish entreperneur has the bicycles of his small company Belfast City Bike Tours. We took our simple one-way bikes and went out to discover Belfast under a gray sky that predicted rain.

Our first stop was in the area known as Cathedral Quarter. The St Anne's Cathedral It gives its name to this neighborhood famous for its mythical pubs. Belfast Cathedral is quite recent, beginning to be built at the beginning of the 20th century. Much more solera has the Duke of York, one of the best-known bars in Belfast that fills up completely during weekend nights (I checked that day in my own meats)

The mural where the famous Irish characters appear

Right next to the Duke of York there is a small red brick passage on which there are painted murals with the most famous characters that Northern Ireland has given. There were the mythical: Pierce Brosnan, The Edge (U2), footballer George Best, Liam Neeson ... And many others. There was also another mural with the hotel Europa in the background. It is where we were staying and it was on fire because it is the hotel where more bombs have been placed in the World. Or so he likes to tell the Irish! Likewise, I slept like a log the two nights I rested on it.

We follow our path and arrive at Merchant hotel.
